Introducing Tim from Our Kingscliff Office

by Sam Hall | Jun 13, 2017

What made you get into IT?

Growing up I loved computers and computer games. I completed a Cert 3 at Tafe and got to work on the insides of a computer. Something switched on and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Tips for businesses looking to upgrade their IT infrastructure.

More expensive doesn’t always mean better. The right tool for the job will give you a better solution than an expensive one. Look for Cloud services for your solutions. They are the future and are scalable. Small business can benefit from Cloud services, gaining the productivity and features for a few dollars per month that large business pay thousands for.

Where do you see technology going in the next 10 or 20 years?

Depending on the reliability of the internet and future upgrades, I can easily see that most devices will be super light and portable as all heavy work will be done offsite with the results transferred over the internet. Computers could become like Smart TVs, or large tablets could be the main device people use to work and communicate on. IF Augmented Reality is done correctly, people will live in a futuristic future such as I, Robot.

What do you like to do on your time off?

I spend time with the family and gaming. Being on the Gold Coast means theme parks, beaches, National Parks and Timezone, so we always have plenty of options to explore and play.

What do you find most fascinating about the technology that we have now?

Augment Reality is a Sci-Fi idea that is almost ready for its initial release. The potential for a walking tour around a city with a pair of glasses which are interactive with what you are looking at. Looking at the Empire State Building could give you its stats or overlay and a historic picture of when it was built, all inside your glasses.

What’s one thing about you that your work mates don’t know?

In the Kingscliff office they know all about me, but it could be either my knowledge of Pi to 20 digits or my food classification system for liking/disliking an item of food.
